Position SummaryThe Lead position in our Finishing (Folder Gluers) department is a non-management, leadership role that is expected to set an example of commitment to safety, quality and improving production metrics.
This position is the point of contact (i.
e.
, go to) for assistance and support for performance barriers such as difficult make readies, quality issues, safety concerns, etc.
The Finishing Lead must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in communication, decision making, attention to detail and organization.
The Finishing Lead will work safely while producing a quality product at an acceptable rate of productivity on their primary machine.
The Finishing Lead is expected to deal with employees with the highest integrity, show respect to fellow employees, be held accountable for their performance, and build relationships with their team, fellow employees, and management.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain high level of safety, quality and performance on their primary machine and shift.
Mentor and train fellow team members on their primary machine; mentor other operators across all shifts.
Provide clear communication to other Operators and employees on their shift concerning schedules, machine performance expectations, and Quality concerns.
Make decisions on quality, safety, and performance based on facts and data.
Provide the needed assistance to troubleshoot mechanical, set-up, raw material, employee, and scheduling issues on all machines in area.
In cooperation with Finishing Technical Manager, responsible for raising performance levels (increased efficiencies, decreased spoilage, decreased downtime, faster MRs) across ALL shifts.
Establish process consistency in conjunction with Operations Managers and other leads to promote teamwork for improved morale and job satisfaction.
Share information and knowledge with the goal of establishing consistent gluing operations, MR practices, and downtime responses.
Analyze information from production reports, spoilage reports, etc.
to diagnose key barriers and issues on the folder gluers, elevating those issues to management and working as directed to solve issues as needed with internal or external resources (including suppliers).
Some Specific Deliverables include:
Daily identification of causes of production variances and weekly report for management showing key barriers encountered, root causes, and actions being taken to address or solve.
Continuous improvements and results to support the continued need for the department.
Additional requirements:
Arrive 30-minutes before shift and stay 30-minutes after shift to communicate with other crews and Technical Manager, etc.
Be available to answer questions from other crews.
Other job duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
